Bicycle Committee Meeting
Thursday, May 12, 2011, 8:00 a.m.

Members Present: Lamar Hunnicutt, Councilman Brian Garrison, Christine de Vlamning, Mayor Larry Bagwell, Fox Simons.  Councilman Mann and Councilman Watson were absent. Also present were Dan McGee with GPATS, Clint Link with Florence & Hutchens, Stephanie Finley with Milone and MacBroome, and Julie Howle with the Greenville News.  Lisa Garrett served as the recording secretary.

Couch Lane sidewalk project was discussed.

Councilman Brian Garrison opened the meeting and City Administrator Fox Simons explained the perceptual idea behind the project.  The meeting was turned over to Clint Link for details.

There are two options.

1a, 1b: would be 5’concrete sidewalk only with partial curb and gutter. Could possibly do    5’ sidewalk with a 3’ natural path for walk trail.
2a, 2b: would be 8’ asphalt shared used path with curb and gutter, stormwater drainage.
Mayor Bagwell likes the idea of asphalt but thinks citizens would prefer concrete to be uniform with other sidewalks in Easley.

Christine likes the idea of 8’ surfaced walk way.

C-funds are available for this project. Fox Simons and Mayor Bagwell will be attending a meeting with the county for this money next week. 2A is the #1 choice with asphalt at a cost of $395,505.  Concrete would be a little more money.

In the Master Plan for the Bike and Pedestrian plan Couch Lane was a top priority.
The Bike Committee will have a public meeting on Monday night at 6:00 for the North A St. road diet.

The meeting was adjourned.
